Important Update:
In this module, the speaker references ChatGPT being free with potential future costs, which was accurate in 2023. Currently, ChatGPT provides both free and paid (premium) versions. Additionally, the speaker's observations regarding ChatGPT's calculation errors and underperformance in accounting questions compared to students were fair assessments based on the 2023 version. While these original comments remain contextually appropriate as of the webinar's recording, ChatGPT's capabilities in accounting problem-solving have significantly improved by 2025. Therefore, while some anecdotal discussion of ChatGPT may appear slightly dated, it does not impact the core learning objectives of this material.
During this webinar, three faculty members will cover their approaches to engaging students in discussions about ethics. The specific discussions will include:
-Accounting Ethics Education: Meeting Students Where They Are
-Implications of ChatGPT for Accounting Ethics Education and
-Building Moral Courage Through a Wisdom-Focused Accounting Ethics Course
Learning objective: Upon completion of this learning activity, participants will be able to assess the impact of different discussion-based ethical engagement techniques on accounting student learning, and adapt these techniques to address specific student needs and learning styles.
