Many students don’t know how to learn. They only know how to memorize. If we’d like to improve our students’ outcomes, and maintain the accounting profession overall, then we must start at the beginning. We’ll have to teach students how to learn. And, this can be done concurrently with your scheduled content for the semester. View it as an essential career-readiness skill. In this webinar we reveal how we discerned that our students aren’t learning, and how we help them to realize that a change in habits is needed. We’ll also include the learn-to-learn techniques that we have students practice as they learn each week’s course content. Yes – it is possible to teach students how to learn.
Learning objective: Evaluate and implement evidence-based pedagogical strategies, including metacognitive techniques and active learning methodologies, to enhance students' cognitive processing and application of accounting course material, resulting in measurable improvements in student performance and self-regulated learning skills.
